Who is this for?
This course is specifically mandated for professionals operating in the early years sector. It ensures total compliance with the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for nannies under the DfES Approved Carers Scheme.
It is perfectly suited for nursery staff, primary school teachers, childminders, pre-school workers, au pairs, and even parents who want the highest professional standard of paediatric life support training.
What You Will Learn
Adult first aid protocols frequently do not apply to small bodies. Over two days, you will extensively practice the unique algorithms required for infants (under 1 year) and children (1 year to puberty):
- Infant and child CPR
- Safe use of an AED on a child
- Infant and child choking emergency responses
- Placing an infant / child in the recovery position
- Assessing and managing an unresponsive casualty
- Dealing with severe bleeding and shock
- Meningitis, sepsis, and sickle cell emergencies
- Febrile convulsions, epilepsy, and seizures
- Croup, asthma, and severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
- Head, neck, and spinal injuries
- Fractures, burns, scalds, and electric shock
- Bites, stings, and suspected poisoning
Accreditation & Assessment
Multiple-Choice & Practical Evaluation
You will be assessed via continuous practical observation over the two days to ensure physical confidence, alongside a simple multiple-choice paper to confirm your understanding of the curriculum.
Valid for 3 Years
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Ofqual-recognised Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. This highly respected certificate is valid for 3 years, fulfilling all Ofsted compliance records.
